Amitābha (Sanskrit pronunciation: ), also Amida or Amitāyus is a celestial Buddha described in the scriptures of the Mahāyāna Buddhism. Amitābha is the principal buddha in Pure Land Buddhism, a branch of East Asian Buddhism.
